You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers!
Below are some answers to the most frequently asked questions we’re asked at Liberty Driving School.
If you don’t see the answer here, please click here to give us a call or send us a note.
Q: Can I use MY car for a road test?
A: Yes you can, with some stipulation. It is not required that a driving school take your child to the road test; however, you MUST have an emergency brake in the middle of the front seats IF your vehicle has a full center console. If the center console denies access to the brake pedal for an emergency stop by the inspector, you are not allowed to use that vehicle.
Q: Are six hours of driving instruction enough for my child?
A: We will let you know and offer additional lessons
Q: What is the process for scheduling the NJ Road Test?
A: We can do that for you and can reschedule if needed.
Q: What are Early bird rules?
A: NJMVC will require new drivers under 21 years of age to provide proof of 50 hours of supervised driving at time of their road test.
A probationary driver’s license shall not be issued to the holder of an examination permit under the age of 21 unless the permit holder completes a minimum of 50 hours of practice driving, 10 hours of which shall be completed during hours of darkness. the permit holder’s parent or guardian, or the person who accompanied and supervised the permit holder during the practice driving shall certify, in a form and manner determined by the chief administrator, that the permit holder has completed the required number of hours of practice driving, including the required number of hours during hours of darkness.
Q: Do I need the 30 hour theory class to get permit?
A: For 16-year-old drivers in New Jersey, a 30-hour classroom theory course is not explicitly mandated by the NJMVC for obtaining a learner’s permit, but a 6-hour behind-the-wheel course is required. However, many high schools include this 30-hour instruction as part of their health curriculum, and it is highly recommended.
The Process
After payment is received, you will be contacted to schedule your driving lessons. Prior to
